Matthew Jones Wins CTR SXCC RD7 at Trecastle
Matthew Jones is back to his winning ways at CTR Events Summer Cross Country Championship round 7 on 3rd September in challenging conditions after a few nice dry sunny days with the build up to the awesome Bronyyd Mawr track in Treacastle on the South Mid Wales boarder with heavy overnight rain and rain on the day making the red muddy conditions very slippery for all the CTR Racers, Team CTR made a very fast flowing and technical 5 mile Enduro course with all sorts of different terrain.
At the start line Matthew Jones got the holeshot and led all the way from Derek Bawn and Alex Walton, with Grant Churchward close behind and leading the Vet Experts around Next class leader around the 1st lap was young Alfie Webb leading the Clubman class around, Mark Saunders was leading the Over 50’s around with Jac George leading the Novice class around, Mark Copeland lead the Vet Clubman around with the rest of the CTR racers charging around the course.
At mid way and with pit stops ETC playing a part Matthew Jones slipped into 2nd with a small engine problem and Alex Walton pulled out, Grant Churchward was leading the Vet Experts and in 3rd overall while Rhys Davies was just behind and in 3rd place of the Experts, Alfie Webb was back in 3rd after a crash leaving Glyn McGuire in 1st of the Clubman, the rest of the classes were led by Mark Saunders Over 50’s, Mark Copeland Vet Clubman and Jac George flying around leading the Novice.
At the chequered flag Matthew Jones managed to grab the lead back of Derek Bawn after Bawn made a small mistake but still pushed Jones hard all the way to the Flag with Rhys Davies in 3rd, Grant Churchward winning the Vet Experts ahead of Richard Baxter and Gareth Lenard, Alfie Webb won the Clubman ahead of Glyn McGuire and Graham Owens, Mark Saunders won the Over 50’s with Richard Holland 2nd and Adrian Evans 3rd, Mark Saunders won the Vet Clubman with Ryan Mitchell 2nd and Jeff Morris 3rd, Jac George won the Novice class with Dale Walsh 2nd and Scott Owens 3rd.
